About the show
“Sun sets in east” is a performance by the new director Mārtiņš Gūtmanis, which is based in text created together with playwright Elza Marta Ruža using poetry of Latvian poet Austra Skujiņa (1909 - 1932).
The performance is a musical conversation with Austra Skujiņa's poetry. It takes the audience in the world of Austra's thoughts. The authors and performers of the music are the new actress Elīza Dombrovska and composer Platons Buravickis.
“Sun sets in east” is a part of project “Jauno maiņa”, in which four Latvian theaters - DDT, Ģertrūdes ielas teātris, theater of Rēzekne “Joriks” and Valmiera Drama theater - are supporting the beginning of a new generation of stage artists in Latvia.
“Jauno maiņa” is realized with the support of State Culture Capital Foundation's target program “KultūrElpa” and Goethe-Institut Riga.
