Dirty Deal Teatro
Dirty Deal Teatro is nongovernmental professional theater in which both experienced and new directors, playwrights, actors, choreographers and other stage artists can meet to create a fresh, contemporary experience for the audience.
Dirty Deal Teatro was founded in summer of 2007 by a small group of like-minded people. At this time DDT is located in Pārdaugava (Talsu iela 1), where the audience can gather in two theater halls - The Black box with 80 seats and The White hall with 50 seats.
Dirty Deal Teatro's work is based in four goals:
-
To stage original, contemporary Latvian plays
In creating our repertoire we think about including performances that talk about uncomfortable topics and questions we usually try to avoid. One of the main goals in the plays we chose to stage is to tell the untold stories about people and events that are happening NOW. -
To create new and fresh experience in theater
DDT was inspired by young people who were looking for intellectual and physical space in art. This necessity is still alive now both between artists and the audience. Most performances in our repertoire are suitable for young spectators. We tend to choose topics that are humane and timely for grownups and grownups to be that see themselves as a part of society in which we have to learn to exist with others. Exactly that is our main goal - to raise self awareness and strengthen one's identity, to raise compassion and equality with the help of art. -
To give the stage to the young professionals of theater
-
To create performances for children and young people
We try to create performances for younger audiences as much as we can, because in Latvian theater scene they are still noticeably missing. We want to encourage curiosity about theater in children and teenagers by helping them to become sensitive artists and spectators.
