About the show
"Inheritance" is based on the personal story of poet and playwright Anna Belkovska about her and her father, so the artist wishes to invite the audience to the performance with the following message:
"When two years ago, Jānis, Viesturs, and I began working on the play, which at that time was far from resembling the current Inheritance, I came to the first rehearsal with a story that had been very difficult for me to reveal until then. Back then, this story still had two main characters, but now it continues with just me, and together with my colleagues, it's important for me to share it with you.
In my early childhood, I had a father who taught me to count to 100, a father who nurtured my creativity and kept my not-so-successful clay pots from ceramics classes for years. Later, I still had this father, but the trauma and pain he had inherited from his own childhood eventually took over, and as a result, they still haunt me today.
In the performance, we won't be talking about the two-room apartment in Preiļi that I inherited, but rather about the invisible inheritance that I, my colleagues, and every one of you in the audience carry. This inheritance can take the form of love, anxiety, addiction, talent, pain, and hundreds of other things. This time, we'll be discussing my personal inheritance, but I sincerely hope that listening to me will be as meaningful to you as it is for me to share and be in the same space with you."
